Fall Harvest Celebration
The Mower County Historical Society invites everyone to take part in the Fall Harvest Celebration! Festivities will be held on Saturday, September 28 from 11 AM to 3 PM at the historical society on the east side of the fairgrounds. Admission is free but donations are accepted.
The celebration will include living history demonstrations such as oat threshing, logging, and sawing. Take a wagon ride around the fairgrounds pulled by a team of mules or ride with style in a 1921 Model T. Do you have a sweet tooth? Check out the bake sale which will be filled with pies, pumpkin treats, and much more. To go with the bake sale, the historical society will have some produce for sale from local growers. If you are looking for something a little heartier to feed your appetite, a food stand will be available to help you refuel between activities. Learn how to make lefse with the help of the Sons of Norway. They will be demonstrating their technique and selling lefse as it’s made. There will be plenty of fun for kids as well. Activities include candle making, pressing apple cider, learning about pioneer chores like washing clothes, lawn mowing the old fashioned way, garden cultivating, and additional activities organized by the Austin Early Childhood Family Education program. While visitors check out the various activities, listen to music from JJ’s Pickup Band.
Enjoy an afternoon with the Mower County Historical Society and celebrate the fall season! For more information call (507) 437-6082.
