Director of Advancement

The Director of Advancement will join Riverland’s Advancement team, which plays an important role in building relationships with constituents of the college to foster greater engagement, partnership, and philanthropy to help further the college’s mission.  

This position reports to the Dean of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for the supervision and management of key Advancement functions of the department, including Advancement operations, database management, financial accounting, annual giving campaigns, donor and alumni relations, campaign fundraising and events, alumni and donor database management, as well as oversight of processes and procedures to optimize effective fundraising including Riverland Foundation accounting, reporting, and board management. This position provides broad leadership, supervision, and administrative oversight in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and improvement of functions and resources in the Advancement department.

Salary Range:

$67,505.00 - $97,948.00

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years work experience in non-profit management and/or fundraising -OR- an equivalent combination of education and experience.  An associate degree could be substituted for 6-months of experience, a bachelor’s degree is 12 months and a master’s degree is 18 months within any of the following disciplines:  Business, Accounting, Management, Communication, Non-Profit Management or related.

  • Supervisory and Leadership skills utilized to promote and energize a team-based work unit.

  • Experience developing strategies and managing projects related to fundraising.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and ability to read and interpret financial reports.

  • Experience using a database to track customer or donor interactions and extract reports and data.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, and take initiative to resolve problems.  

  • Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and successfully complete/implement projects. 

Preferred Qualification 

  • 5+ years of work experience in higher education Advancement department. 

  • Master’s Degree in Communication, Business, Non-Profit Management, or related field. 

  • Experience using a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system in the Advancement of relationship management. 

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with non-profit financial management practices, including bookkeeping, accounting, and required reporting. 

  • Bilingual/Multilingual fluent in Spanish, Somali, Anuak, Nuer, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.

  • Demonstrated experience working with a multicultural and underserved population.?
