Job Description

The Grants Specialist will join Riverland’s Advancement team, which plays an important role in building relationships with?constituents of the college to foster greater engagement, partnership, and philanthropy to help further the college’s mission.

The Grants Specialist reports to the Dean of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for grant administration, primarily focused on post-award processes including project implementation, review of grant conditions, budget monitoring, financial reporting, compliance with grant requirements, reporting, and evaluation of grant projects.

Principle Responsibilities

1. Under the supervision of the Dean of Institutional Advancement, this position will manage the administration of grants awarded to Riverland Community College.

2. Participate in pre-award and post-award grant processes by providing support and expertise.

3. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple
  • projects simultaneously.
  • One (1) year professional grant management experience -OR- three (3) years para-professional grant work experience -OR- an equivalent combination of education and applicable professional work experience. An Associate degree could be substituted for 6-months of experience.
  • Project management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices sufficient to understand state and federal appropriation, accounting, and reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial records and reports, and review budgets.
  • High level of skill and proficiency in computer software programs including electronic spreadsheets, databases to gather and compile data. Ability to navigate a variety of online grant platforms.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business, management, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience with federal and/or state grants administration in a higher education setting.
  • Bilingual/Multilingual fluent in Spanish, Somali, Karen, Anuak, Nuer or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a multicultural and underserved populations.
